Hardware installation

This includes building and upgrading all pc parts and certain laptop parts. We also offer to purchase and install for the client. This includes testing to see if each component is working correctly. We are able to setup both PC's and Mac's. This includes unpacking, connecting and installing the system. All peripherals e.g. printers, pda's, ipod's, webcams and tv tuner cards can be installed. Common tasks include upgrading both pc / laptop memory and installing a second hard drive.

Software installation

We install all software provided by the client, this will occasionally include demo versions of security software, software for Tomtom devices and iTunes. We will install licensed software only. Common software tasks include fixing iTunes errors, installing microsoft office and increasing performance of a pc. A variety of tasks are performed to increase pc performance, these include updating windows service packs, hotfixes, removing spyware, viruses, removing file fragmentation, junk files and optimizing windows startup.

Network installation

Our technicians can also help you to setup a small local area network. This includes both a wired network using both CAT5 or CAT6 cable and a wireless network using wireless cards or usb dongles. This includes the installation of drivers and setting up of WEP or WPA security for wireless networks. Common tasks include setting up broadband and installing hardware.

Virus/Trojan/Spyware removal

Minor problems can be fixed by security software. Sometimes due to large numbers of viruses and adaware, it is better to reinstall the operating system as the problems can be quite persistent. Common tasks include installing an antivirus, spyware remover and firewall to prevent further attacks. This is not covered by the NO FIX NO FEE policy.

Windows / Linux installation or recovery

Before reinstalling windows we always backup all important data and burn that to a cd/dvd or copy it to another storage medium. Common problems include display problems, invalid drivers, virus/trojans causing computer desktop to freeze and blue screens on startup. This often prevents novice users from backing up data, PC Callouts however are usually able to backup data from the system.

Data backup and recovery

We are able to backup to cd/dvd or other storage medium all important data for the client. If the user has accidently lost work, it is usually possible for us to recover some work. We also offer wiping data off disks to delete all personal information as well as backing up to dvd, flash drive or second hard drive. This is not covered by the NO FIX NO FEE policy.

Hardware driver installation

We install drivers for a variety of hardware e.g. printers, scanners, webcams, pda's, gaming accessories, computers and laptops. Drivers can be obtained from manufacturers cd's or websites.

Website design

We are able to create websites as well as help the client to register both hosting and the domain. We can help with setting up email addresses, monitor website stats and create web forms which send data straight to email. We offer to do all the work offsite as well as allow the client choose from a selection of templates, the number of pages and discuss content for the site.

Search engine optimization

Some of our technicians are able to advise clients in how to optimize websites in order to achieve a number 1 ranking for Google and Yahoo. This is only feasible if the the required keywords are not very competitive.

Programming support

We are able to offer programming help to both students and small business with a variety of programming languages. Languages which some of our technicians are fluent in include Java, C++, C, Ada, ML1, SQL, Html, XML, CSS, Javascript, Flash and Lisp. Common problems include debugging source code and mysql database creation.

Charges explained:

Callout fee £10

For each visit to the client, the callout fee must be paid.

Cost per hour £15

If the work finishes before the hour is finished, the client must pay for the full hour.

Collect and return £50

This is a set fee and includes up to 5 hours work on the pc or laptop.

Purchasing components / software locally £10 per hour

The client must pay for the item and the travel costs of £10 per hour in advance. A receipt will be given to the client to prove the value of the item. If the item is incorrect / faulty, it is the responsibility of the client to sort the problem out.
